About

Travellers huts is a network of cabins in Lithuania open to all travellers, created following the principles of community engagement and sustainability.

This is clean-after-yourself type of accommodation, managed and maintained by travellers and project volunteers. "Leave it nicer than you found it" is one of the most important rules.

These huts are renovated from unused, often abandoned, buildings by the hands of volunteers. The network is created and maintained by a diverse community of travellers.

Become a part of it by staying in a travellers hut!

What are travellers huts?

These are simple buildings adapted to the basic needs of travellers. Inside, they can find simple furniture, a few kitchen utensils, bunks or beds for the night, and, in most of them, a fire stove.

What is the purpose of travellers huts?

These are simple, clean-after-yourself ("leave it nicer than I found" principle) type of shelters. These are not hotels, rural tourism farmhouses or Airbnb.

How much does an overnight stay cost?

Depending on the amenities, €13-20 per person per night. The funds collected are used to maintain the huts and develop the network.

How do I unlock the hut?

You'll find the exact steps of how to unlock the doors here.

How do I reserve a hut?

The huts are open to all travellers. You can reserve beds, bunks or spaces to spread a sleeping pad on the floor (see huts' description pages), but not the entire building.

How to check the hut's availability?

There is a calendar on the hut description page, under the reservation link. It will show you the availability of the hut for the scheduled date. However, a traveller who has not reserved a place in advance can always come to the hut and make a reservation then (if there are free places).

Who do the huts belong to?

The owners are various private individuals and organizations that have allowed their building to be turned into a travellers hut with the right of use. Our volunteers take care of the buildings, and in return travellers can stay in them.

Can I organize an event in the hut, use it for commercial purposes?

If you want to organize an event in the hut, use it for commercial purposes or bring in a large group of travellers - all this must be coordinated in writing with NGO "Keliautojų nameliai": labas@keliautojunameliai.lt

How can I become a volunteer?

I have an unused building, I want to turn it into a travellers hut.

If you have an unused building that you would like to turn into a travellers hut, fill out this form of the proposed building.
